Another World Junior Championship, another World Surfing Festival

The world’s best Under 18 surfers gathered together from May 24th to June 1st at La Plage du Penon, in Seignosse, France for the biggest Junior Tournament on the Planet: the 2008 Quiksilver ISA World Junior Surfing Championship.

Surfing included in the 1st Asian Beach Games
Olympic Surfing? Soon to be a reality!

A major action sports festival, including many sports not on any “normal” Olympic calendar and backed by the Olympic Committee of Asia (OCA) will fire up in Bali from October 18– 25 this year.  The 1st Bali Asian Beach Games, after great efforts by the Indonesian Surfing Federation (ISF) members in Bali, President Bobby Radiasa, National Secretary Oom Arya, Pro Tour Manager Tipi Japric, will include surfing under the Olympic rings.

SURFRIDER FOUNDATION OPPOSES EFFORTS TO LIFT THE OFFSHORE OIL MORATORIUM IN USA


This week, there have been several calls for Congress to lift its long-standing ban on offshore oil and gas drilling. In response to these announcements, the Surfrider Foundation has released a statement on its position against offshore oil drilling.

Little by little, Argentinean Surfing is renewing its talents. It is common now to see on the different beaches of Mar del Plata and the Argentinean coast a pack of ripping groms, with great surfing skills and a good amount of stickers on their boards. One among the whole pack that is a standout is Brian Masmut, one of the best juniors of the “Che” Surfing.

The last Quiksilver ISA World Junior Surfing Championship left pretty good memories and a clear picture of the talented surfers that will become the professional surfing elite in a near future. The girls final was a real example of good surfing and competition, Laura Enever was crowned there as the big lady in France.
